Art Box
The ‘Art-Box’ international competition was organised by the Royal Institute of Architects in Ireland (RIAI) in 2006. The brief was to design a mobile space capable of adaption for performance, exhibition, and community use within the Cork region.
The proposal adopts 3 inter-locking components which can be arranged in a number of configurations for various uses. Each component has a different material treatment: copper, timber, and reflective chrome. The box has built-in technology to record and project its surrounding environment. This architecture is about place and conscious thought through memory of place.
The entry was shortlisted and received an honourable mention.
