Breakspears Road
This site falls within the Brockley conservation area. The existing house occupies the site of a house bombed in WW2. The existing internal spaces are deprived of natural daylight and have poor connections with the rear garden.
The proposals are for a two storey rear extension which will provide extended living space. The centre of the house will be opened up to create a 2 storey void which will let natural daylight flood down from the roof level. The rear elevation will be clad with hardwood cladding which will weather to a silver colour over time.
A vertical ‘living wall’ is located on the gable to the adjoining property which will drain to a water feature integrated into the new rear terrace.
