Art Box
Competition Entry
The 'Art Box' international competition was organised by the Royal Institute of Architects in Ireland (RIAI) in 2006. The brief was to design a mobile space capable of adaptation for performance; exhibition; and community use within the Cork region.
This entry, produced whilst working for Arts Team@RHWL provided an exciting response to the competition brief. The design uses 3 distinct materials: copper; timber; and reflective chrome, to define the 3 separate elements or component parts. These components can be arranged in a number of configurations for various uses.
This architecture is about place and consciousness through memory of place. The box has built in technology to record its surrounding environment which can later be projected on contrasting environments. Status: Shortlisted and displayed as part of the RIAI Art Box exhibition.
